The Best Guacamole in 10 Minutes!

As I write this post, I would like to let you know I have guacamole breath (TMI?) because I just wanted to be sure I had it perfect for you all (so selfless!). I probably owe this recipe to my mom since she was the one who would get mad at me for using the artificial packages. Something like they would kill me, poison, cancer causing garbage… You get the point. So I experimented several times to get the perfect taste. I cannot really attend a party with my hands empty at this point; it’s guacamole or no invite? JK… kind of.

Nom nom nom. I won’t lie to you, I could eat this whole bowl myself in an evening and probably not regret it.

Okay, I’ll stop now… to the good stuff!

The first step is to slice and scoop the avocado into a bowl. I have a potato masher and use that mash-up the avocado – the reason I like this over blending is it gives a little more of a chunky texture. I’m a firm believer guacamole should be chunky, not pudding-texture.

The next step is to chop up your yellow onion and jalapeno, dice the Roma tomato, and add it to the bowl. Mix together.

Now it’s time to add the lime and jalapeno juice. With the lime, I have a hand-juicer that helps me get the most out of it (I highly recommend this contraption. I got mine at WalMart). Now add the cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix together.

The last step is to add cilantro. Mix all the ingredients well and taste… or just eat it all. Serve however you like – tonight, we made fajitas and used it as a garnish.

Ingredients: Serves 6
  • 6 small avocados
  • 1 Roma tomato diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 chopped jalapeno
  • 3 tablespoons of jalapeno juice
  • 1/2 of a lime juiced
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

*It has a little kick to it. Lessen amount of cumin, cayenne pepper, and jalapeno if you are sensitive to spice.

What is your signature item??
